Chuck Smith, Physical Therapist and Owner Chuck has practiced physical therapy since 1973, and moved to Petoskey in 1987. He is the owner and administrator of the Sports Medicine Centers. In addition, to licensure in Physical Therapy, he has been certified by the American Physical Therapy Association in one of its clinical specialty areas as a Sports Certified Specialist. He continues to treat patients in the clinic, particularly in the area of temporomandibular dysfunction. Chuck's wife, Barb, is a Registered Nurse in Endoscopy at Northern Michigan Hospital. Their sons, Joel and Jeff, have followed in their father's footsteps and are Physical Therapists as well. Joel is practicing at the clinic in Charlevoix and Jeff in the Petoskey location. Their daughter, Jenny, graduated from the Nursing program at Grand Valley State University and is now working in Tennessee. Like many who live in this area, Chuck loves to enjoy the surroundings by sailing, kayaking, skiing and hiking. |

Kim Voelker-Samyn, Physical Therapist Kim is originally from Harbor Springs and graduated from Harbor Springs High School in 1998. She graduated from Central Michigan University with a bachelor of Science degree in Public Health Education and Health Promotion. She most recently obtained her Master of Science degree in physical therapy also from Central Michigan University. Kim met Jeff, her husband, while in the PT program and they are both now staff members. Kim and Jeff are making their home in Harbor Springs with the black lab, Emmet. |

Julie Slifka, Certified Athletic Trainer Julie graduated from Central Michigan University's Sports medicine program in 2001 after completing an internship here at NMSMC. Originally from the Detroit area, she decided to move north and join the staff of NMSMC in Harbor Springs. She spends part of her time working at the clinic and the other as Harbor Springs High School's certified athletic trainer. In her spare time she enjoys traveling, sports and boating with her husband, Erik, son Mason, and Maya, their dog. |

Emily Wynn, Physical Therapy Aide, Patient Representative Emily joined the staff in March of 2005. She is a graduate of Petoskey High School and North Central Michigan College. Emily continued her education at Brandon Raynor Massage School in 2007 and is a certified massage therapist. When Emily is not hard at work, she is spending time with her two dogs, Roo & Elly, enjoying the outdoors or with family. |

Laurie Ford, Physical Therapy Aide A former Harbor Springs school teacher, Laurie is returning to the workforce after a hiatus to raise three children. She and her husband, Jim, have two sons in college and a daughter in high school. Laurie stays active by participating in a variety of sports and outdoor pursuits, including belaying at Camp Daggett Adventure Center. She also enjoys reading,volunteering, traveling, and spending time with family and friends. |

Catherynn Spierling, Front Office Catherynn joined our staff in Harbor Springs in May 2005 working in the front office as a receptionist. She is a Harbor Springs native and currently resides in Pellston. She enjoys walking her dogs, snowmobiling, baseball, traveling, and spending time with her family and friends. |
