Chuck
Smith, Physical Therapist and Owner
Chuck
has practiced physical therapy since 1973, and moved to Petoskey
in 1987. He is the owner and administrator of the Sports Medicine
Centers. In addition, to licensure in Physical Therapy, he
has been certified by the American Physical Therapy Association
in one of its clinical specialty areas as a Sports Certified
Specialist. He continues to treat patients in the clinic,
particularly in the area of temporomandibular dysfunction. Chuck's wife, Barb, is a Registered Nurse in Endoscopy at
Northern Michigan Hospital. Their sons, Joel and Jeff, have
followed in their father's footsteps and are Physical Therapists
as well. Joel is practicing at the clinic in Charlevoix and
Jeff in the Petoskey location. Their daughter, Jenny, recently graduated
from the Nursing program at Grand Valley State
University. Like many who live in this area, Chuck loves to
enjoy the surroundings by sailing, kayaking, skiing and hiking.

Ethel Larsen, Physical Therapist
Ethel
joined the Sports Medicine Center staff in 1988. A native
of Hancock, she is a graduate of the University of Michigan
Physical Therapy program. She settled in Petoskey in 1983
with her husband, Bill, a Pathologist Assistant. They have
two grown children. Ethel is a long-time member of the Northern
Michigan Chorale, a founding member of the Friends of the
Petoskey Public Library, and a volunteer with Hospice of Little
Traverse Bay. Ethel provides rehabilitation for a variety
of orthopedic conditions seen at the clinic. In addition,
she has a special interest is women's health issues.
Ethel regularly provides an instructional presentation about Self Care for Bladder Control at the Community Health Education Center, and teaches a 8 week Exercise for Osteoporosis class several times a year.

Jeff Smith, Physical Therapist,
Clinical Specialist in Orthopeadic Physical Therapy (OCS), CSCS
Jeff
is a Petoskey native since 1987 and a graduate of Petoskey
High School in 1993. Jeff holds a Bachelor's degree in Zoology
from Ohio Wesleyan University, and in May 2000 received his
Master's degree in Physical Therapy from St. Ambrose University
in Davenport, Iowa. He is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist(CSCS) and in July, 2007, Jeff earned certification as a Clinical Specialist in Orthopeadic Physical Therapy (OCS). Jeff joined the staff Northern Michigan Sports
Medicine Center in 2000. His expertise is in Foot/Ankle rehabilitation, Orthotics, Rotator Cuff Rehabilitation and Joint replacement rehabilitation. Jeff and his wife, Heather,
have two sons, Samuel and Charlie. When not spending time with his
family, Jeff enjoys kayaking, skiing, and fly fishing. As a Strength and Conditioning Specialist, Jeff consults the Grand Valley crew team, coaches’ soccer for the Petoskey Youth Soccer Association and teaches a Ski and Snowboard conditioning class each year.

Sandy Willoughby, Physical Therapist, CSCS
Sandy is our newest addition to NMSMC. She was practicing downstate in Ann Arbor and has been a physical therapist since 1992. Sandy received her Masters degree in Physical Therapy from the University of Michigan. Sandy and her husband, Ken, chef at the U of M biological Station, and their daughters are enjoying northern Michigan hiking and camping. |

| Suzanne
Howard, Physical Therapist
Suzanne
has been part of the NMSMC family since 1996. Suzanne received her Bachelor of Science degree in Physical
Therapy from Wayne State University in 1981. Suzanne has worked in an outpatient orthopedic setting since graduation with an emphasis on manual therapy and orthopedic rehabilitation. She enjoys attending continuing education courses to learn the many aspects of her profession. Her main interests are shoulder and cervical dysfunction and rehabilitation. Most recently she has taken course work and is interested in vestibular rehabilitation including gait and balance dysfunction. Suzanne and her husband, Jim, enjoy life with their 4 children in Northern Michigan.

Jeff Samyn, Physical Therapist, CSCS
Jeff recently moved to northern Michigan from Bay City, MI. He earned his B. S. in psychology and Master's in Physical Therapy from Central Michigan University and is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist(CSCS). Jeff enjoys running, mountain biking, baseball, weight-training, hunting, fishing, and most other outdoor activities. Jeff completed his first marathon this year in Traverse City.

Amy Bartling, Certified Athletic Trainer
Amy has a degree in Sports Medicine from Central Michigan University. She is a certified personal trainer through the National strength and Conditioning Association and is a certified massage therapist specializing in medical massage. Amy lives in Charlevoix with her husband, Kris, and children,Kristopher and Lauren.

Patty Schmoldt,
Certified Athletic Trainer
Patty is a
native of northern Michigan, growing up in the area and graduating
from Boyne City High School. After high school she attended
Central Michigan University where she earned her Sports Medicine
Degree and became a Certified Athletic Trainer. Patty worked
in the Detroit Metro area providing clinical rehabilitation
and high school athletic event coverage before returning to
Northern Michigan in 2001. In addition to providing
patient care in the clinic, Patty is responsible for caring
for the athletes at Petoskey High School as their Certified
Athletic Trainer. When she isn't covering PHS athletic events,
Patty enjoys playing hockey and softball as well as mountain
biking, kayaking, hiking, camping, horseback riding, and snowmobiling.

Tanner Kolb, CSCS, USA I
Tanner recently moved to Petoskey from Stillwater, Ok, where he was finishing his master's degree at Oklahoma State University in Applied Exercise Physiology Education. He received his under graduated degree from Messiah College in Sports and Exercise science, where he also wrestled for 4 years. Tanner is a competitive power lifter and enjoys training himself and others, in addition to spending time with his wife Katie and there two dogs. |

Jeff Dekoski, MA, Certified Athletic Trainer
Jeff recently moved back to Michigan after spending four years as the Head Athletic Trainer at Northern State University in Aberdeen, South Dakota. Jeff received his Bachelor's degree from Eastern Michigan University in athletic training and his master's from Eastern Michigan in Educational Leadership. Jeff likes to spend time with his wife and son.

Nicole
Hibbler, Massage Therapist,Physical Therapy Aide
Nicole is
a native of Harbor Springs and Petoskey. She is
a graduate of Harbor Springs High School and started working
at the Sports Medicine Center in September 2001. Nicole is
a certified Red Cross Instructor for CPR, First Aid, AED and
holds a Pool and Spa Operator certification. She
is also certified massage therapist specializing in medical
massage. Nicole
treasures working with patients and her co-workers.

Kristin Hess, Massage Therapist, Physical Therapy Aide
Kristin has worked for NMSMC since August of 2005. She grew up in Chicago and holds a Bachelor of Science from Southern Illinois University. Kristin worked for 5 years as Recreational Manager in VAil Valley, CO. and is an avid snow boarder. She is an outdoor enthusiast and loves to spend time with her husband, Dahlon, and their dogs.

Micheline
Wynkoop, Office Manager
Micheline joined our team in March of 2002 with an Associate of Science and Business degree and over 20 years of experience in Accounting and Billing. Born in Canada and raised on the island of Malta in the Mediterranean Sea, she was very proud to become a citizen of the United States in 1993. Micheline’s husband, Wayne is business owner of Norwood Limestone Quarry, LLC. Wayne and Micheline have two daughters: Sabrina is the Education and Achievement Advisor at Victories Casino in Petoskey and Tanya attends Charlevoix High School and is active in Basketball and Volleyball. Micheline enjoys hiking, biking and reading.

Penny Davis, Billing Manager
Penny is a great addition to our staff. She was born and raised in Petoskey. She has been in our billing office for the past three years. Penny enjoys family time with her husband, Randy and two children Eden and Tanner. She is also a member of the Northern Michigan Cancer Crusaders. Penny is on the go all the time keeping up with her children’s athletic events and her fundraising efforts for the Northern Michigan Cancer Crusaders. |

Jeri Craig, Billing Assistant
Jeri comes to us from Nub's Nob, where she was the ticket queen for many years. She enjoys spending time with her three grown children when they come to visit. Jeri travels whenever she has the chance, and also loves to spend time on the water, boating swimming and kayaking. She lives in Harbor Springs with her big mutt, Dexter. |

Office Assistant
Denise
was born in Iowa , raised in Kenosha , Wisconsin . Graduated
from a small UP school after coming from a huge one in Kenosha
- culture shock!! She attended Bay de Noc Community College
in Escanaba. She has been married to Dan for 18 years. Dan
has his own body shop business, Muha's Custom & Collision,
for 20 years. She has 2 children Joshua and Jessica who attend
Petoskey High School . Josh is part of the marching band and
manages the Varsity basketball team for Petoskey with Dennis
Starkey. Jessica plays 3 sports - basketball, volleyball and
runs track. Dan loves to hunt and fish. Denise enjoys reading,
crafts, hiking and riding horses. They enjoy living on their
farm out East Mitchell Road in Petoskey. They also breed,
raise and sell Labrador Retrievers for pets and hunting.

Connie Smith, Front Office Manager
Connie
is a native of Stamford, Connecticut and is a graduate of
Stamford Catholic High School and the Berkeley Secretarial
School in White Plains, New York. Connie's two children are
both graduates of Petoskey High School. Christopher is a graduate
of Michigan Tech University and is working for IBM in Boulder,
Colorado. Michelle
is a graduate of Lake Superior State University and is working
in Charlevoix in the sales department at Charlevoix Screenmasters.
Connie and her husband, Bob, live in Petoskey and enjoy spending time with their yellow lab, "Katie", skiing,
and traveling.

Margaret Bowers, Marketing
Director
Margaret
joined the Sports Medicine Center team in November 1999. She
holds a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, with
a major in Marketing, from the University of Miami, Coral
Gables, Florida. Margaret heads the marketing responsibilities
for 6 clinic location of Northern Michigan Sports Medicine Center, Body Balance Golf Fitness
Program and Virtual Snow Ski and Snowboard Simulator. In 2001, she achieved certification by the American Council
on Exercise (ACE) as a personal trainer and in 2004 earned her certification as a Pilate's instructor by the Pilate's Institute of America. Margaret enjoys community volunteering, she served 6 years as a board member for St. Francis Xavier School; in 2005, she completed the Leadership Little Traverse program and now volunteers as an Ambassador to the Harbor Springs Chamber of Commerce.
